What's new?

Tender Shoot survived the earthquake (Sep 2011)

After more than 6 months of running classes from home, and many moments when we nearly closed the school due to despair that we would ever find a place to relocate to, we are back! Our new place is Unit C, 132 Victoria St, Christchurch. No more rearranging the house to accommodate 14 parents and 14 dolls on a Saturday.

Tender Shoot hits 600 (Dec 2010)

We have passed 600! Just before Christmas, 2010, we enrolled parents 601 and 602 into a 'First Baby' class.  Thank you to each and every person who has taken up the offer of Tender Shoot. You have helped in the most significant way of all to make this venture happen.

We have charitable status!

Our application for charitable status from the Charities Commission has been successful and our registration number CC38187 is our proof. This means we can begin to fundraise for the school and secure its viability. Check out the Charities Commission website at  www.charities.govt.nz to find out more.

Feedback from parents:

  • Anna was at the hospital (her Nana was dying). It was a stinking hot night and Brian wouldn't settle. I was home alone. I walked round for three hours till Brian settled and I put him to bed. I did not get flustered or worried. I just spoke to him and cuddled him. It was empowering” (new father)
  • A high point for me was when I started to watch our baby and really started to learn his cues. When you take notice it makes being a mother a wonderful experience. (new mother)
