Our Blog (25/01/2012) We have started 2012 with a shift in focus in Canterbury. Rather than supply directly to families, we are supplying pepi-pods to agencies working with the more vulnerable baby populations. Until a decision is made about funding to continue a local service, these agencies are seeking their own funding solutions. While health professionals may not be able to refer directly for now, we hope that needy babies will be picked up through Smokechange, Pasific Trust, Te Puawaitanga Ki Otautahi Trust, Christchurch Women's or Early Start. We will keep in touch, here, as things develop. Heio, Sharon, Judith and Stephanie |

ABOUT |
Pepi-pods started as emergency sleeping spaces for vulnerable babies in Christchurch, following the earthquake. They are now available in Canterbury to agencies working with high risk babies, on a cost recovery basis. The Canterbury District Health Board is looking into funding options for continuing a pepi-pod service in 2012. To learn more about the project ... |

FOR GRANDPARENTS |
Here is where we talk to grandparents about what has changed and what has not when it comes to advice about caring for babies. Click for a 15 minute online updates on what the professionals are learning. Checkout the leaflet "It didn't happen in my day" that compares infant death rates accross the years. You may be surporised to see that more babies survive now than ever before. |

FOR |
The community rallied in support of this project after the Christchurch earthquakes (click here for information about pepi-pods in the earthquake time). People have sewn covers and sheet sets for the first 1000 pepi-pods. As well they have helped to spread Safe Sleep education to others. While we no longer need you to sew, we do need you to help spread the "face up, face clear, smokefree' safety principles in your networks. This creates a strong foundation of support around families with babies. |

|
FOR |
We have a team of people from local agencies who have committed to distributing pepi-pods within the service standards of the National Pepi-pod Programme. Here is where we will communicate with you as a group, provide updates and answer questions (under development). Click here for your online distribution record form. This needs to be completed after the 2 week follow-up phone call. |
